The Yamasa Institute and the JET Program.
The JET program remains one of the key Japanese government initatives enabling young foreigners to truly experience Japan.
The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program was established in 1987 and is now one of the largest cultural exchange
programmes in Japan. For young graduates it represents one of the better opportunities to experience Japan and interact
with Japanese.
One problem however is that many JET participants do not receive adequate support after they arrive, particularly in terms
of language support. As one of the Hattori Foundation's key educational objectives is to improve the quality of foreign
language teaching in Japan, the Foundation has approved funding for a new support site for JET's. JET Program participants
also receive discounts on tuition for all Yamasa Japanese language programs.
