Below are some samples from the Minna no Nihongo texts. These are the texts used in the elementary curriculum. The texts (without samples) used for intermediate and pre-advanced are listed here.
The character 
on the left
means Chapter 1 and so on. There are questions from chapters 1, 7, 8, 15, 16, 24, 25, 31, 32, 38, 39, 46, 47 and 50.
It is no problem to start with absolutely zero Japanese. The teachers
delivering the elementary level classes are particularly skilled with direct method teaching
methodologies and you will be surprised at the pace with which you can learn the language.
