Communication is the key to understanding Japanese society. You might only have one chance to study Japanese in Japan, and if so then you need to make the most of your opportunity. By joining the learning community that is the Yamasa Institute, you have the opportunity to learn Japanese faster, and in full cultural context, than anywhere else in Japan.

Yamasa's courses include the most intensive accredited programs in Japan. The top priority is high quality - we also offer unmatched facilities, flexibility and choice - and as a non-profit organization, we provide all of our programs as affordably as possible. "Maximum bang for the buck" (yen). Credit points towards Yamasa's Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma are awarded for successful completion of your courses.

We offer classes at all levels from foundation courses for the absolute beginner through to advanced programs for students requiring high levels of proficiency for professional careers or Japanese universities & graduate schools. You can study from just 4 weeks to as long as 2 years. No Institute offers more course options, flexibility, quality or affordability than Yamasa.

On the left hand side of this page there are link buttons (light blue) to each of our courses. They are grouped into "Academic" and "Extension" Programs. If you are not sure of the difference, please read through the links at the top of the column on the right hand side of this page marked Length Options, Intensity Levels and Short Cuts.

Also on the left hand side you can see link buttons (pink) under the title Admissions. Please read through each of these so that you know our procedures and how to enrol. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact us

Our Office exists purely to support your studies, from first email, throughout your studies and right through to alumni support. So please drop by our virtual office today - and our actual office in Aoi Hall when you arrive in Okazaki!
