  • Start Dates: Once every 2 weeks - all year round
  • Duration: Minimum 10 weeks, Maximum 12 weeks.
  • Levels: Intermediate and above.
  • Intensity: 12 (Private), 23 (SILAC) or 28 (Acceleration) classes per week.
  • Internship Program (Experiential)

Key points: If you are looking for a different experience of Japan, you may wish to consider an internship combining 6 or 8 weeks of intensive classes with a 4 or 6 week unpaid placement in a Japanese language speaking workplace.

    Introduction:

There are four key reasons to do your internship with Yamasa.

    1. High Quality Teaching Component: Most internships do not offer intensive classes with professional faculty. Some internship programs offer part-time classes, or classes prior to departure, but most interns report that only a full-time intensive program prepares them for the placement stage thoroughly. Our Internship provides intensive language learning with professional faculty and a minimum of 7 proficiency levels. The maximum class size is 25% less than the recommendations of the APJLE. If there are 16 students or more at the same level - we divide the class immediately into two smaller classes. This means that you will not only learn more, and learn faster, but also that your classmates will be of a proficiency level much closer to your own than in almost any other program in Japan. This offers a better preparation environment for the work placement.
    2. Options: Yamasa is the only internship program offering the option of either group or private classes, and the opportunity to choose the length of the work placement.
    3. Flexibility: Most internships in Japan are only available during the summer. Our internship program is offered all year round.
    4. Single placement: Unlike many programs, no more than 1 intern is placed into any one workplace. Usually you will also be the only foreigner in that particular workplace.
    5. Accommodation: You will not need to re-locate after your study component. All work placement companies are located either in Okazaki or are accessible via either the JR Tokaido Line or Aichi Kanjo Line.
