These 12 studio apartments are close to the campus (Only 8 minutes walk, by bicycle only about 5 minutes). These apartments are usually restricted to students studying long term (6 months or more) on shugakusei student visas. They are also prioritized as accommodation for couples/families if the Residence L 2DK or Residence L 3DK apartments are fully booked. Each apartment is what is known in Japan as a 'one room mansion'. At the moment Yamasa Villa 1 is reserved for "shared by two students" occupancy only, providing more space for students sharing rooms, and more apartments (in Yamasa Villa 3 & 4, Residences K and U etc) for those preferring single occupancy.

Location: As well as being close to the campus, the apartments are also close to shops, restaurants, supermarkets and bus-stops. If you are looking for convenience for getting out of town to see the sights of central Japan, these apartments are the closest to JR Okazaki Railway Station which is on the JR Tokaido Line (the main trunk route linking Osaka - Kyoto - Nagoya - Shizuoka - Tokyo) and gives you excellent access to Nagoya, Kanayama, Mikawa-Anjo, the marina/onsen resort of Gamagori on Mikawa Bay and Toyohashi.

Description: The apartments are western style with no tatami matting. The floors are of polished wood. The space of each is 30.06 square meters (approximately 325 square feet) with a balcony of 3.6 square meters (approximately 39 square feet).

All Villa 1 apartments have a western style toilet and a separate unit shower/bath. They have air-conditioning/heating, a large wardrobe, and a kitchen. Yamasa provides a refrigerator, electric hotplate and electric rice cooker. There is no gas cooking. Please note that utensils are not provided, but can be purchased cheaply at a nearby store. In the main room Yamasa provides a TV, bed, desk, chair, study lamp and bookshelves.

Coin laundry and bicycles: Yamasa provides two washing machines between Villa 3 and 4 (50m from Villa 1) which can be used for free. Please do not wash before 7am and after 10pm, be considerate of your neighbours. There is also a coin laundry next to the Yamasa Student Village. The best place to park bicycles is under the stairwell in the center of the building. This area is safe and secure but we do advise you to chain lock the bicycle. Free car parking is available.

Telephone and Internet: Any student living here has internet access (via a fast fiber-optic LAN). There is no telephone provided inside the apartment, students will need to obtain a lease or rent a line or use computer-to-phone software using the internet connection. Yamasa will assist you if you need a telephone line installed in your apartment. Most students prefer to use the cheaper option of handheld cellular phones. There is a public telephone (international calling enabled and with data jacks) on site.

Futons: Futons are not provided, so for bedding please browse through the futons file.
