How to make your computer read Japanese

1) Just go to http://www.rdt.monash.edu.au/~jwb/jviewer.html and enter the URL you want to see. The easy way.

2) More directly: download the fonts you need. They are available from http://fisher.lib.virginia.edu/japan/fonts.html or there is more information on the Japanese text online initiative on the same site at http://etext.virginia.edu/japanese/browser.html. The fonts are distributed by lots of other sites too - if you have any trouble, try searching

3) For Explorer, go to the Microsoft site and download Global MIME: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/features/ime.asp

If this doesn't work, or you have a Macintosh, try Fonts in Cyberspace and search "Japanese" at http://www.sil.org/computing/fonts/
