AOI HALL: BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE

If you are here, you will have noticed a lot of noisy people working on the downstairs part of Aoi Hall. This construction is part of the continuing development of the Campus, and will be completed by the start of August.

Facilities planned include:

- Main Hall for entrance ceremonies, testing, etc.
- Distance learning theatre - 60 seats plus 4 wheelchair spaces. Barrier free. This will also be used for the Online Center for Japanese Studies (OCJS) when it is launched from April 2001.
- Inside toilets - again one with wheelchair access.
- Bar - parties, events, etc. will be held here. Due to complaints from neighbours near the student residences about noisy student parties, we are developing our own venue for student parties and gatherings.
- Office space - I'm dying to get out of this shed...
- More car parking spaces - room for up to another 35 cars.

More developments are planned - I'll let you know about these as they come.
