Acceleration Program - Fees

The low cost location, non-profit status and long-term financial support provided by the Hattori Foundation enables Yamasa to provide the Acceleration Programs at a low "cost price" to all our students. This means that the tuition is priced ONLY according to the cost of teaching the classes in each schedule.

Fees for Longer Duration studies (for example 6 months or more)

Most students enrolling for longer term studies require a student visa, and the average length of stay of students with this visa is about 14 months. It is possible to switch between the Acceleration program and other Academic programs (Academic Intensive or entering Advanced Japanese) at the end of each quarter - so the fee structure here is calculated on a quarterly basis.

Notes for student with student visas:

(1) If you are planning to study long-term, it is often best to start in the Acceleration Program and then shift to the AIJP or AJSP later. This is particularly the case if you are starting your studies in April and are aiming to pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in December.

(2) If you enrol in the Acceleration Program for 3 months and decide DURING your first week to switch to the AIJP or AJSP, then you are able to do so under the following conditions:

    a) You have received approval from your academic advisor.
    b) You have met the entry requirements of the curriculum of the program you wish to transfer to.
    c) Please note that the balance of your tuition will be refunded to you with the exception of a 21,000 yen transfer fee.

(This small transfer fee covers the costs of retesting and re-processing - as there is considerable administration costs and your proficiency level may also need to be reassessed)

(3) If you enrol in the Acceleration Program for 3 months and decide AFTER your first week to switch to the AIJP or AJSP, then you are able to do so under the following conditions:

    a) You have received approval from your academic advisor.
    b) You have met the entry requirements of the curriculum of the program you wish to transfer to.
    c) Your attendance rate is 90% or higher for classes attended in your current program.
    d) Please note that there if you transfer out of the acceleration program after your first week there cannot be any refund for the tuition for that quarter.

(Please read the refund policy for full information on refunds)
