NOTE 1: *For student visa information, please read carefully through the visa requirements section.

NOTE 2: There is no application fee if you are enrolling for 1 quarter only, or if you do not require a student visa.

NOTE 3: The application fee covers most of the costs incurred by Yamasa in obtaining the visa. However even if processing your visa incurs costs well in excess of 21000 yen, you will NOT be required to make additional payments.

NOTE 4: Students requiring a student visa are usually required to enrol for a minimum of 2 quarters (6 months). If your university or other scheduling requirements are such that you need to enroll for longer than 1 quarter but are not able to enroll for a full two quarters then please contact Mr Declan Murphy (Director of the International Office) at admissions@yamasa.org as soon as possible and explain your situation.

Frequently Asked Questions regarding costs:

  • Why are there tuition figures such as 256,513 and 972,563? Why isn't the tuition rounded off?
  • If I'm enrolling for 1 year, do I need to pay all the tuition in advance?
  • What is the minimum payment required? Can I pay in instalments?
  • Can I pay the tuition and accommodation on a month by month basis?
  • Are there any discounts?
  • How much do the textbooks and other materials cost?
  • How much are the laboratory and library fees?
  • How much is the airport/train station pickup service?
  • How much does the email and internet access cost?
  • Can I pay for everything by credit card?
  • If Yamasa is non-profit, why do some schools have cheaper tuition rates?
  • How much does the accommodation cost? Does that include bills?
  • What is the average cost of living? How much money do I need?
  • Am I allowed to work part-time?
  • Can I cover my tuition and other costs by part-time work?
  • What should I do regarding Health Insurance?

    Information regarding deposits:

NOTE 1: If you are applying for a student visa then you only need to pay the application fee of 21000 yen. You do not need to pay a deposit. You do not need to pay any tuition until after your certificate of eligibility (see visa information section below) has been confirmed.

NOTE 2: If you DO NOT need a student visa then you will need to pay for your tuition (1 quarter) at least 35 days prior to commencement. Many students prefer to secure their position in the program several months in advance via a 25000 yen deposit, and then pay for the rest of the tuition 35 days before the program commences. The deposit is not an application fee and so if you confirm your place via a deposit, then you only need to pay the balance of the tuition for 1 quarter to complete your enrolment.
