Hattori Foundation Fellowship content

1) Full tuition scholarship during the agreed period of study.

Fellowship recipients will be able to prepare for graduate school through the Yamasa Institute's Academic Programs. The recipients will usually study for a period of 6-12 months prior to entering a graduate school. It is possible for students who have already obtained Level 1 proficiency in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test to enroll in October and complete only 6 months prior to entering a graduate school. All tuition fees and associated administration charges will be paid by the Hattori Foundation.

2) Living expenses stipend

During the first 3 months in Japan, the Hattori Foundation will provide a Stipend not exceeding 50,000 yen per month (net) to help the student meet their living expenses.

3) Accommodation Allowance

During the first 3 months in Japan, the Hattori Foundation will provide an Accomodation Allowance not exceeding 30,000 yen per month (net) to help the student meet their accommodation expenses. The allowance will be valid for accommodation arranged by the student housing office of the Yamasa Institute only.

4) Textbook Allowance

The student will receive an allowance not exceeding 20,000 yen for the purchase of any textbooks or other study materials required for the programs and purchased via the Institute.

5) Further scholarships/grants and soft loans.

When the student completes the program, the Hattori Foundation will assist the student in obtaining scholarships and other forms of assistance to help them pursue postgraduate studies in Japan. The Foundation will also continue to provide counselling where requested.
