Jozankei Onsen

Located in a beautiful gorge on the Toyohira River, the Jozankei Onsen is a popular hot spring resort for both its forested scenery, Yu-no-taki (a hot waterfall), and therapeutic waters. The water of the onsen is slightly saline, which is reputed to be good for those who suffer rheumatism, neuralgia or gastro-enteric disorders.

The resort is located 30 kilometers southwest of downtown Sapporo and is dotted with many Japanese inns and restaurants on both sides of the river. During the summer, many come to engage in outdoor sports such as hiking, golf, and tennis, while, in the winter, visitors can ski and snowboard at the nearby Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort. Nearby also is another sightseeing spot, the Hoheikyo Dam.

How to get there
60 minutes from Sapporo Station via Jotetsu or Donan bus (fare one way is 75 yen)
90 minutes by bus from New Chitose Airport
