OCJS Program Catalog

The Online Center provides an on-demand curriculum outlined below. Most lessons will require a password of standard membership level of higher. The curriculum is continually expanded and broadened - please check the update file for the most recent additions. Please note that as with all Yamasa Institute courses, our faculty will be teaching you Japanese using Japanese only. Use the "help" files or contact us if you need assistance.

Absolute Beginner Curriculum (FREE):

  • The Hiragana Tutorials (includes stroke order and sound files)
  • The Katakana Tutorials (includes stroke order and sound files)

Beginner Level Curriculum (PAID - click here for more details):

Depending on your preferred settings, OCJS Lessons 1 - 50 will appear with an customizable interface in Chinese, Czech, English, German, Korean or Spanish. You can alter the setting without altering the browser's default language.

Intermediate to Pre-Advanced (FREE):

  • "In the News" Reading & Listening comprehension exercises from contemporary Japanese media.
